I. lovelovelovelove....

finding the perfect name for a character.
so i had an issue.
i needed a name of a guy who was sort of a mystery guy...
with a bit of an edge to him...
but really he is misunderstood...
yet stuck up and things high of himself...
though weirdly sweet in his own way...

basically he was a mix of Tristan/Logan/and Jess
from Gilemore Girls
(yes, when you love a show too much, it ends up showing in your writing)
so anyways. i could not for the LIFE of me come up with a name.
until i figured it out.

so i was talking to a friend who was giving me guy names left and right...
and she had told me the name Drake...
i was thinking about it...i liked it...but not really for a first name...
we then went through a few more names...
then she said Eric...
and it clicked.
Eric Drake.
it's perfect for my character.
it suits him so well...
like its edgey, and unique, and just perfect for him!
here see for yourself....

here is a bit of the new story i'm working on

Just breathe. Come one you can do this. It's just highschool for goodness sake. And you have already been through two years...
Melody James parked and approached the main building of her new highschool that contained the office. She was told to report to the office to get her schedule and locker number. The problem. She was suppose to be in the office an hour ago. Guess that's what happens when you don't set you alarm because you are trying to rebel against your paren'ts moving and they wake you up anyways, at the last minute. Great stuff. Once she reached the office a light breeze of AC blew her way.
Oh thank you whoever invented AC.
“Can I help you?”
A petiete woman stood before her with a bright smile.
“Yes, I'm Melody James. Sorry I'm late...”
“Well you are late missy,” the woman lost her smile for a scorn, “You were suppose to be here over an hour ago so you would be settled by the time first period started.”
“I know. I didn't set my alarm. Woke up late. Got lost on the way here. I'm really sorry. Can I still get my schedule and go to class though?”
The woman puffed out a huge sigh.
“Alright. Here you go, Melody,” the smile returned, “Welcome to Hillside High!”
“Thanks,” Melody smirked and headed out of the office.
She looked down at the list and realized her locker number was 218. She looked up to see what the locker numbers were around her.
21?! Great.
She started walking down the hallway in the direction that showed the numbers increasing. When she hit the end of the hall her problems increased. Now what was she suppose to do? Go upstairs? Sounded like the best idea, though it was the only idea.
She opened the door to the stairs and at the same time collided with another person. Due to the fact Melody was rather clumsy she ended up falling down.
“Ugh. Do you have to make so much noise?”
Melody looked up to see a tall guy standing in front of her.
Did I mention he was dreamy!!
“Ummm. Sorry. Umm. I'm new here. I guess I just lost my footing. Sorry.”
The guy smirked.
“New girl? Oh right, Melody James.”
“H-h-how do you know my name?”
“Student Body President,” he pointed at his chest as if the words would be on a plack on his chest, “Well, not official, I'm the unofficial Student Body President. The one everyone wants. Just didn't make all the 'school' requirements.”
“I see.”
Melody realized she was still on the ground and scrambled around to find her books and papers she had dropped to realize that the myserty boy had already snatched them and was exaiming the paper the lady from the office had given her.
“Looking for your locker?”
Melody stood to her feet, “Um. Yes. Can you help me?”
“Sure.”
He turned and headed back through the door and up the stairs, taking her stuff with him. Melody had no choice but to follow him. She hurried to catch up with him on the small stair case and then came up to another door that opened up to the second level, but the guy didn't go through the door, but rather he continued up the stairs.
“What level are we going to?” Melody asked starting to feel way beyond shy.
“This one right here,” he replied as he pointed to the third level door.
He opened the door and didn't even bother to hold it open for her. Seemed to be set out on a mission to get over with helping her find her locker. They kept walking in silence until he finally stopped almost causing Melody to run into him again.
“Here we are, Ms. James.”
Melody looked over and saw her locker, 218. She had to hand it to him, he did know the school.
“Thanks.”
She reached for her books that were still in his hands and went to open the locker.
It was stuck.
Of course it was. Melody tried and tried again but it would not budge. Not hearing anything behind her she figured the guy had left but then hearing a small giggle she realized he was still there.
“Ugh. It's impossible.”
Out of frustration, Melody kicked the locker and turned around to face the guy who was giggling at her.
“I give up.”
A crooked smirk crossed his face and he moved her aside to have his shot at the locker. With a three simple punches to the locker at the top it swung open with a rose falling out of it.
“Welcome to Hillside High, Melody James,” the guy said smoothly as he handed her the white rose.
“How...”
“It was my locker last year.”
And with that he turned and left.
I don't even know his name!

hope you like it!

xoxo,
bekah
